Christology is not about Jesus of Nazareth as a victim of first-century Roman politics. Christology is about the importance of Jesus of Nazareth, his person and work as the Christ, for those who have the “eyes of faith” to see who he was and why he was important for the life of the Church. Christology is not simply a historical memory of Jesus; it is the interpretation of his significance and the grounds and nature of his significance for Christian faith and life.
