This was a fun moment for us, putting Emery’s massive Mickey & Minnie dolls on our 5th floor balcony overlooking us at the pool and the ocean, late on a lazy summer vacation day.
Emery was so excited to see them sitting there, and we thought it was clever ourselves.
It’s weird because they’re nowhere close to us, yet they’re part of the whole experience that afternoon.
Humor me, because they’re just stuffed dolls (technically animals, right?), but it’s as if they’re watching and not participating. And I wonder how much of our lives, even our worship, is watching and not participating.
There’s something poweful to be said for just being in the moment, entering into the right sphere, but at some point it has to move you. If you say you worship something but you’re not moved, then you should probably question some things. A lack of passion and transformation can be incredibly damning.
